We offer two tour accommodations depending on group preference. The first is Palazzo Montàsola, in a medieval hilltown situated high above other Sabina hilltowns, like a queen presiding over the rest. From the palace’s terraces, spellbinding views stretch in every direction—green, undulating countryside and olive groves. The palace has been in Letizia Gabbuti’s family for more than three hundred years, and its elegant apartments furnished in antiques and heirlooms suggest history, generations, and heritage.

Our other location is nearby at the Tevere-Farfa Locanda (Inn), a bucolic retreat in a nature preserve along the Tiber River. Here the setting is rustic, peaceful, and natural. Home and outdoors unite. Wood walkways traverse marshlands, leading visitors to bird-watching towers. Bikes are available for leisurely rides along the river. The inn is a restored mill house with the rustic flavor of a lodge, but modernized and comfortably furnished.

From our Sabina base near Rome, the group travels by minibus to outdoor and indoor sites, with delicious picnics or full-course meals at picturesque restaurants, depending on the destination. Every activity is planned with care for the group’s optimum experience.

Some evenings are free for reading or watching a film related to the books and authors covered. If staying at Montàsola, our host Letizia Gabbuti is available to teach us how to make local liqueurs one evening.

Shopping is available during our overnight trip to Capri.

We suggest reading books during the year before the tour. Book clubs are free to make reading suggestions; literary destinations should be within striking distance of Rome.

Once we have a group, and know each other’s previous Italian travel and reading, we can refine the itinerary.
